Heres a short vid of Mike making a Test & Tune pass yesterday (6/20). See if anyone can identify what is the same on this vid and the Ginnett's vid. Enjoy

Thanks for the roll bar use & thanks for sharing about your taste in IPA...we'll all remember that one ;D FYI-I'll be giving all of the in car recordings I can get this season to Dan R. so he can add to his video library for 2010.

I really like the in-car stuff... especially when somebody else is doing the editing! That camera has a really nice mic too. OK, here's a dumb question. I usually wait until the next race day to pick racers brains but I thought I would ask a question here for a change. It's obvious from the in-car video that Mike didn't have to shift the car once he left the line. Unless I was seeing things the shifter moved all by itself. I know a street tranny shifts gears using the governor, or at least they used too. I'm guessing now in the electronic age it's all done off the speed sensors (generators), but what shifts gears in a race car tranny. Is there a speed sensor or something in the tach head, in the tranny... or what? And does it just control a solenoid on the shift lever?

Dan, In the classes where a delay box is permitted, an automatic shifter is allowed. These are usually a solenoid mounted to the shifter just like you had mentioned. It could be either a large electronic version, or a pneumatic style. (That is what the small aluminum cylinder with gauges mounted on it is in some cars) This solenoid is triggered by either an RPM switch or a timer. The timer can be in the delay box, and an RPM switch could be a stand-alone component or a feature of the ignition box.
Hope that answers your question..
And I still want one of these, (or several runs that is) This is not only entertainment but an awesome training tool. I want to see what I'm doing right, wrong, what the car is doing from this perspective etc.... When is your next outing to the track? And can I get in line?

Thanks Clint. You answered my question perfectly. Sometimes I ask questions at the track and then I have to say, "OK, one more time in English". I'm pretty sure Randy (who has the in-car camera) won't be back at the races until after the 4th sometime.
