The Chevelle has a pump gas freindly motor. Thinking about enrichment fuel for the plate set up. Considering a small stand alone tank / pump and regualtor for it. Would it practical to use high octane fuel in that fuel system? Want the option of spray /no spray and not have a factory tank full of high octane fuel for occasional use. Are you guys high octane all the time with your cars?

Craig, with your stock gas tank, the best way to go is a 1 gal tank up front with a Holley blue pump & Holley regulator. As for fuel, I'd run 110 Minimum. Here is a cut & paste from GoFast.com
A small cell mounted at the front of the car with a filter and pump is all it takes. Keep the lines as short as possible and try to keep the fuel moving towards the rear of the vehicle as it makes it's way to your kit. This will help eliminate G-forces from being a negative factor in your tune-up. The cost of an extra fuel system is a lot less than a set of pistons, rods, rings, bearings, crank, etc.
The ability to be able to only run the good gas in your small cell and still be able to run cheaper, lower octane fuel in your main fuel cell used to be another one of our positive reasons for this setup. Recently we did some reflection to our past and problems that we used to have. What we came up with was pretty simple and one of those "humbling" discussions. We were wrong. The lower octane fuel is still going to detonate before the higher octane fuel, even if it's all mixed together. You can get away with doing this on lower hp kit settings but as you get over 200hp I recommend running the same octane fuel to your kit as you do to your engine. It's a bit more expensive this way but we attribute this very simple mistake to a lot of melt-downs on Jimmer's car over the years as we began spraying higher hp settings.

Perfect. The battery is moving from the stock location to the trunk. That space will be the location of the fuel cell. Have a couple of holley blues and regs on hand, looks like a perfect place to use one. I was thinking that the fuel of choice will be what the silver car likes, 118 Klotz is what it has been using........
So, keep the thing simple. Want to run the plate. Get out the timing light, drop it back 6 degrees from 38 total. Burn out. Arm system, turn on pump, purge, footbrake launch, WOT switch fires the plate and its game on. Missing anything?

I am still a little leery about the low octane fuel in the main tank if going beyond a 100 shot. as long as you pull the timing and start slow checking your tune up you should be safe at 100 maybe 150, anything more than that I would be careful . You should add a retard box (if you don't have one built in to the ignition already) that will take the timing out for you when the solenoid See's power, then you wont have to mess with the timing light and dist at the track (pita). Its hard to see the flash in the sunlight at the track.

Jeff & Craig, I have thought about a front tank for nitrous, but what I have seems to work pretty good. "NOW". I do run a timing retard and progressive timer. I leave the line at 34 on timing and 30 percent for 2 seconds and when I go into Hi gear I am pulling out 10 more degrees. My motor is a 406 with around 9.5 comp. D

Looks like I will have to consider an ignition box in the future, just a fancy HEI deal at this time. Those progressive timers sound like the way to go with traction issues / limited tire.
Just looking to bring enought power to carry the tires a litte more, and see Et's in the low 10 second range.
Jeff you have your progressive set up installed?
DL, your right about yours working well as is!......any maintenance issues with the soliniods on progressive use? What are you using for igniton and progressive controller?
I do have a ready t400 trans with brake, maybe a good time to install that as well.

I have not had any problems with soliniods, I am running the bottom feed pro soliniod for nos and a regular for the fuel. Ingition is a digital 6 MSD box.. You can get one and wire it into your HEI. My controller is a plain NOS progessive controller.. There are alot better ones on the market now. I am thinking about up grading that too. I am running a 400 with a brake as well, 410 gears and a 28 tall tire. going through about 7200 on spray,6500 on motor.

Craig, you use a stock fuel tank right. Does it has stock fuel line as well.
If thats the case, you may need the extra tank. But if you have a large line from the tank, maybe you can go with a bigger pump to supply both carb & nos.
I run one tank in rear with two -10 lines coming out. A Holley 150 pump with -10 line to front for the carb, one Holley Blue with -8 to front for nos. My progressive will be set-up for a bucket load for 1.7 seconds, then a wide opened can of Woop-ass the rest of the way.

Jeff, stock tank with installed sump, Mallory 140 pump, 8am to reg and carb. I think that pump has all it can handle on motor. I do like the small independant supply up front Maybe plumb it to run carb and plate for "race mode". Hey, wondering if tune for bucket load is more or less than azz load?
