6" Rods were on the Domes John. Still don't know how it works out to 412 cubic inches. okay, now you're starting to worry me. were there really 2 different rod and piston combos in this motor? were they in backwards as well? how about a 3/4 cam too? inquiring minds want to know. ;D okay seriously i am sorry for your loss, but in hindsight, it was probably for the best.

It's like this, We had all these parts just sitting around and thought? What the hell, Do some math, equal out the compression with head gaskets and put the 6" rods on the f/t pistons and 5.7" rods on the domes, 400 balancer, 350 flexplate, Old oil pump off a V-6 we had along time ago, And a chrome dip stick off jeff's old engine. Seemed like a good idea at the time. now that's some funny stuff right there.

OK guy's, before someone quits their day job to be a Comedian, I'll tell the story. We tried to pull one over on you guys, but I think some of you caught on really fast like Devin.
We did tear down the motor to try to determine what happened. I thought a piston hit the head, John thought he lost oil pressure. Well I was more right then he was, sort of. After getting it all apart and looking at number 3 rod & piston, it was clear that it had hydraulic lock.
We really didn't see where the water came from, but suspect the top of the head gasket. Didn't see a crack in the cylinder like we saw in my old 383 that cracked #1 cylinder. However the block is junk due to metal scaring the cylinder.
The pictures show my old Dome Piston from #1, and John's Flat Top Piston from #3. They are very similar in looks and damage, which futher made us think it was a Hydraulic Lock.

Well Jeff spilled the beans. Yea, looks like a head gasket failed and we hammered a motor. No biggy. It's Drag Racing. If you have never blown a motor, you weren't trying hard enough. It was fun to chase jeff down the track. I was close. We wanted mid 10's and we did it. So now we'll build a new engine for the truck and see what we can do next year.

When I asked him why #2 main was .007 out of round he told me that I should have been able to make it up with bearings. I didn't know they made bearings like that
