This little puppy kinda likes the idea. And if we could get the car count I like the Nostalgia Eliminator idea too. To Devins question about what if there is a Top ET car slower than 9.99, he's not paying attention, there won't be any. But if you want to run quicker than 9.99 you either put a box in and run Top or leave it out and run MOD.
Dang it, my feet are wet again! Which one of you puppies just pissed?

Whats up with this MOD shit!! IF you want to run with the big dogs, you can't be pissing on the porch with the puppy's! ;D Put a box in it. I just don't wanna wait for those slow ass 9 second cars. As of right now Devin, Narf would have to wait for you if he was in his Neon. That Ford of yours don't move very fast.

OK, My two cents. BAN the cheater boxes all together. Bottom Bulb racing is true drag racing. If your reactions are that bad that you need a box, maybe you need more practice or a class of your own. Top elim. should be 7.50 or quicker, they don't have that many cars to play with. Top dragster/ top ET (no Box) should be 9.0 or quicker. Mod ET is great as is and the racing is always close. T&T is also alot of fun and very few rules. run what you brung and have fun.

I'm not a fan of boxes just because i love the originality of leaving on the bottom bulb, the build up of anxiety is a thrill by itself. Or we should all do pro tree! Top elim. Should be 7.50 and quicker for dragsters and altereds and 8.0 for door cars, because 6-800 pounds makes a difference. Getting a door slammer to break 8.0 is a feat all by itself, let alone for one of them to hit 7.0 or even break 7.0 I'm writing up a plan for this nostalgia eliminator class and ill post it to jave everyone revise it andd then maybe we can send it to earl and karen.

Cheater Boxes??? True Drag Racing?? Okay then lets ban: Automatic Transmissions,Two-Steps, MSD Boxes, HEI Ignition Systems, trans-brakes...
Hell we could have a class that has 4-speeds and drum brakes only. That would be fantastic!! WOW What fun we'll have now.
A true nostalgic class for all people who hate technology and the progression of a sport.

Yep! Cheater Boxes. Been called that for years by Drag Racers. Yes, True drag racers leave off the Bottom bulb. watch ESPN all the Pro's leave on the bottom bulb. I don't know to many drag racers that use Automatic Transmissions anymore. Most are manually shifted. A transbrake is like a clutch, a person still pushes the button to activate and deactivate it. unless it's release is controlled by a timer. A Box is still a Cheater Box, Just called something different to make it sound better. Here's a quote from an article i found. "Delay box use was very controversial in the 1980s and 1990s, with the peak of controversy occurring around 1993-1994. This continues to this day but the controversy has dropped substantially from its peak. Delay box use became controversial because experienced racers lost some advantage they had enjoyed over the younger, less experienced rivals. Veteran racers who were against the use of delay boxes complained to race track owners and drag racing sanctioning bodies that the delay boxes were unfair. Delay box usage does give a less experienced driver reaction time accuracy improvements that more experienced racers took time and money to learn. These old time racers said that delay box usage constituted cheating. The term "cheater boxes" was heard at the drag races for many years. Track owners around the United States began creating separate races on the same race day at their facility by dividing racers into two groups or classes, a box class and no-box class. "Some" racers began concealing the delay box and entering the no-box class, therefore actually cheating." And this practice continues today. A Nostalgia 4 speed class would be great. Remember Grumpy and the rest. Those guys were Drag Racers. I'd love to see more old cars with less Technology and more talent.

Remember Grumpy and the rest. Those guys were Drag Racers. I'd love to see more old cars with less Technology and more talent. So thats it? This is your "argument"?? I'll let you in on a little secret. The "True Drag Racers" as you call them, that you watched on the TV... This is called a Pro-Tree. No they do not use cheater boxes with a pro-tree. They also do not use dial-ins, or automatic transmissions, (manually shifted or not, its still and auto) Please.... Yes the Pros on ESPN truly drag race. your right. For entertainment purposes I will argue that we do not drag race either, we Bracket Race; with cheater boxes and automatic transmissions shifted manually with a shift light connected to a little computer that tells us when the RPM has hit a predetermined shift point to help keep it consistent. (I bet Grumpy would've loved this little gizmo) You drum up an article showing how controversial a delay box was in the 80's? WOW! This was over 30 years ago! Get over it, a delay box is here to stay whether we like them or not. I'll give you this one anyway. Its controversial as hell! However, if you want to be competitive you better get the same cheat codes that your competitors have, unless you like getting beat in the first round every Sunday. Bottom line is this. Every time a "class" is established, somebody will build a vehicle that dominates it. All the people that get beat every weekend will pout, piss and moan about unfair rules. Its just like Ron Roman from Fairbanks with Ray's old Chevelle in the KOS class. He ALWAYS won. Why? because he built a car that was within the rules, but it crushed the competition. Everybody got butt-hurt cause his car was not a true street car, and he shouldn't have....and he cant do...... and blah blah blah....wine piss and moan. He built a car that fit the rules. Period. A Cheater box is no different. If you plan on racing in a class where ALL of your competition has a "cheater" box, and you do not put one in, your getting your ass beat on a regular basis. Its no different. I take a little bit of offense to some of these comments. I raced MOD for years, and I loved it! I did quite well in MOD and held my own. I still love MOD, but to imply that a Box guy cant cut a light is just plain bull-shit. Until you have actually tried it in a competitive environment, you should not criticize it. I can honestly say that I have raced in both classes now and I like them both. I have held my own in both classes, I have red-lit in both classes, cut good light in both classes, won and lost in both classes, they are both fun classes with very competitive drivers. Bottom line is the only difference between box and no box is just that. You still have to cut a light its just a different light. Sure the box car is going to average better lights, but not every single time. And this can not be overstated enouph. The only advantage the box car has is the law of averages, the average is that he will tree you, but not every single time. I have won two Iron Men in a No-box car against box cars, so do not tell me if can't be done. Maybe it just can't be done by you, but it can be done. Again, until you've tried it, you have no business throwing a delay box under the bus. Cheating can be fun if the whole class cheats too! You and all the "Cheater Box" hater's of the world have my utmost respect, perhaps we should just agree to disagree.

And speaking of technology, Didn't the NHRA and IHRA just put in new light bulbs in the trees? See! i'm not against technology. It's alot more fun getting follow racers fired up and hearing what they have to say. But i still believe there should be two classes Box and No-Box as it is now. And your right we are Bracket Racers, but the box still gives those that use it a slight advantage even if it's just alittle. That is why they decided all those years ago to separate the two. And for us it's worked fine. But you guys are always picking on devin (which he deserves) and i thought i'd give him a little break and start something. Nice job on the reply. I'm impressed! No foul language.. Are we having fun yet? OK, JJ i think i have him ready for you now.

You big bunch of Bitches, john you stay in your corner of the sand box, Clint you stay in yours. John, your in timeout for kicking sand in Clints face, you mean little bastard. I dont see it as cheating, but it does bring an advantage because the body will react faster off first instinct instead of having time to think. Now the cross over, as from what I understand it, you leave on the slower cars light, but if you dick up you can push the button in again and leave off yoir own first light on the same run. That seems like bullshit, because it gives you two opportunities to cut one light. But whatever, box cars have the advantage, I'm not saying they cant be beat, but they do have an advantage,
And if I had NO BALLS I'd put a box in mine and go play on the porch with all these pissing panzy ass top e.t puppies!
LET'S STIR THIS POT!!!!!!!! fyi. none of this message is serious.

Touche my fellow racer's. ;D
I agree 100%!! Just like it is now. We basically have three classes now, two for no box, and a box class. I just hope more and more racers do, (No offense: T/Elim, Trophy, JR, Open air, TCR, Earl on the tractor, and anybody else I might have forgotten or offended)
I just hope the TD people are okay with the changes. These are the ones that kind of took it in the shorts over all of this. Now they have to race slightly slower cars, not sure what will happen to their ladder style of racing, (probably gone) and their class basically got eliminated.....kind of...or grew, depends on how you look at it.
Maybe ARP can keep the ladder with Box class? Might soften the blow a little to TD people. I personally am not a big fan of the chips anyway, I would love to race on a ladder.
And... Next year we race every other weekend but we race all weekend. So perhaps the Peninsula guys and the Fairbanks Racers can justify the trip a little easier? Hopefully? Having some time off is great, and I love the double weekends, should be a win-win for everybody.
Friday night Gamblers Races!!! This has already proven itself and if your not trying to get to these, your missing out! What about the Dial For Dollars idea?? A little extra cash never hurt nobody! Put a $10.00 bill in a bucket on the last T&T of the day, and whoever has the best package right before Eliminations splits the pot with the track) Edmonton does this eh!
Next year will be a better year all around! We can all "Wave the ARP Flag" a little more this winter by helping those in need to get their car done and make it a productive winter. More Cars, More Cars, More Cars!!!
Next summer should be the one to remember!
