Something that Mighty Mike posted about how lucky we are to have a track to race at made me want to get on a soap box and preach a little. Hopefully, maybe some of this will help:
We need to quit bitching about this and that and work as a whole to get as many racers AND spectators out to the track next year. The Dial for Dollars is going to be one of my personal goals next year. This puts a few bucks in both pockets, but as many people as possible need to participate for it to make a difference. Your extra $10.00 is not going to make or break you, but it will help the track, and whoever wins it.
The Friday Night Gamblers Race's should probably be split up into box and no-box. We will probably get more participants. And I think we should pay down to semi's on these nights.
We need to "Sell" ARP to coworkers, family members, customers and vendors. When I sell the track to a potential customer / fan, I talk up the camping, cool cars, racing action, Jim Creek is right door for ATV riding. They can camp out at the track, watch some racing, have lunch in the lounge, and at night take the 4 wheelers over to Jim Creek for some riding. This Park can be a recreational hot spot with a little bit of Word of Mouth. It really does offer everything for anybody that is even remotely interested in motor-sports.
Drag Strips close all the time, they are a dying breed. We need to make every effort to ensure that fate never comes to ours! There was a recent tragedy in Kodiak where a young man just lost his life in a drag race on the streets. I am a firm believer that Drag Strips save lives by keeping it off the streets in a safe environment. Perhaps this young person could have vented his need for speed if he had a track to race at, and saved his life. We can ALL preach this to whomever will listen. Eventually the word will hopefully get to the right ears, like a Politician who can help Earl grow his business. (Earl is constantly fighting the borough. (So we can have fun)
So please talk up the track to whomever will listen. They are making some neat schedule changes next year, food will be served in the lounge, and we should have some great shows for families to enjoy. Bring out the cars, lets have some fun and put on a show.
I am done, thanks.
