I wish someone would start to explain the new Outlaw Nostalgia class rules some, just so we can explain it to non-racers. I can see the Chicago style format, that every car gets two qualifying passes, the two cars that run closest to the index during the qualifiers return for the final.
But whats this "new adjusted index will be set to two-‐tenths over their quickest ET run at that event" ? Seems like that would put them under the Index and they'd lose anyway by going to quick.
And if you go under the index, you are factored ? I'd factor you'd just lose.
I ain't racing in the class this year, going to take couple years to get the Blown Keith Black together for the Nova. But would sure like to know alot more about the rules, race format and indexing first.

Im with you jeff, this shit doesn't make sense to me. it seems that the two fastest cars are going to be the winner each weekend... I sure as hell know that theres no way in hell i will ever be the fastest car in that class with cars like beitter and dixon. Plus, if i ever ran 7.49, i would be disqualified, because my cert. is only good until 7.50.
I'm still confused on this class. The two fastest cars to the final thing seems stupid. You get two cars that run two tenths faster then everyone else, and no one else has a chance...
The 7.60 index is also ridiculous in my opinion. If they are trying to get publicity for the track, make the class so you have more than 4 f*&%ing cars. This is why no one wants to come out and watch top eliminator. They come out, get hyped up to see a "big fast class", and they get to see four cars run. Then they go, "well that wasn't worth the money".
Put the index at 8:00 or 8.20 or something reasonable. Seems like this class was started up for the cars that ARE NOT quick enough to meet the 7:00 index of top eliminator, and they put it at a 7:60? Seems pointless to me.
The no boundaries thing is cool, but I had dinner with a couple of other racers and we somewhat agreed on one thing. I've seen people get turned away or bitched at for the smallest things on their vehicle, but were going to open a class that basically says you have the whole track to drive on. I don't understand that.
Sorry if i've offended anyone with my language or my opinion, but its just that, an opinion.
Honestly, they should just open the index of Top eliminator to 8:00 and call it a day. Open the class up, make it something worth watching, and increase competition. If that was an 8-10 or even 12 car class, people would come to watch. But when i mentioned that to Karen in edmonton, the answer was a strait ass "no".
But i dont know. Seems as though the only difference between nostalgia and top eliminator is the year requirements and the index. Still pro tree, still index, still no boundaries...

I like that! reaction time based ladder, dial ins, coin flip for lane choice. That makes it fair for a class with a wide range of e/t's. I just know that if something doesn't change in that class, I'll be in top test and tune. Theres really no point for me to go out and wind my motor to high hell to try and keep up with an altered or fed who weighs 1000 pounds less than me. I look at it this way. My truck is probably capable of 7.80's or so, even then, with cars like robby hauck and ralph beitter, both running at least 7.60's and quicker, my chances of winning a race are about the same as Clint keying the Willy's.

I spent some time watching all my video's, all the YouTube video's I could find of cars at ARP. I also watched alot of March Meet video's trying to see what cars run 7.60.
My conclusion is John & Jay Childs, Randy Harris will have to de-tune just a tag and their in. Beitter is in, and I saw only one Dragster run a 7.54 et. So If their is Side Betting ... I'll bet on Jay & Harris as constant winners.
Oh wait, was the 7.60 index for 1/8th mile. That makes more sense.

And last i heard, the red headed kid from Jay's crew said that John's vision was getting so bad that he probably wont be racing anymore. This is my point. Ralph and probably Robby Hauck will be quicker than 7.60 I hate to say it but this class is starting to look less and less likely of happening. Screw it, 90 tooth top pulley, 30 tooth bottom pulley, Im running S/ET. Like i said in my last post, this is an opinion. If the track is having a hard time making money and getting fans, then quit making the rules for these classes total bullshit. If this class was for 8.00 or quicker or even 8.50 or quicker with carbs. This class would be bad ass. You look at what we could have for this class Robby Hauck ralph beitter john dixon cameron charlton gene lemay roy rank devin welsh kc hooks brian aszmus mark eslinger John Crump (; Jennifer Hansen Take the others from top dragster and put them in top e/t to open that class up a little bit as well. Why not just do a nostalgia bracket class? Keep the years rule as far as door slammers, altereds, dragsters. Any motor / power adder 8.50 or quicker e.t. no box electronic shifters allowed (these cars are dangerous enough as it is) 3 test and tune passes (third one optional) reaction time based ladder do an index for each car example: Start with 8.50 index for each car. John dixon and ralph beitter race eachother John- 7.75 Ralph - 7.60 Make there personal best there own index, but dont make the starting index ridiculous like 7.60 Dont limit the fuel or induction ideas. If a carb'd altered can keep up with a blown door slammer, more power to them. Look at an nhra nitro class. You wouldn't fly your ass down to las vegas to see a 4 car nitro class. You dont go to the march meet to watch two altered run 3 passes a day. You go for the car count, or to drink. If we make this class big, people will get interested. Guarenteed.

Devin, I think the idea is to have as many cars as possible in the T/S class. Read the rules and see where you Would fit. If it don't fit force it. Nothing wrong with a Pro T&T Class.

Just a reminder, At the meeting where we (5 of us) discussed ideas for the "Pro-Nostalgia" class. Nothing is written in stone yet. There will be changes made according to who shows up and is willing to run. No one is forcing anyone to run this class. This class was designed to be fun and put on a show!

What "ideas" did you guys come up with for the Outlaw Nostalgia class? It might be just me, but why don't we have the people that will be running the class have a meeting and a nice chat and see what we all want and whats fair for all. I know the class is to put on a show, but we also want to have fun and I KNOW each of us want to have an equal chance to win. Anyone can say the opposite, but anyone who puts the effort in to run a class, has the urge to win.

I do not know for sure either Devin, best thing to do is finish your truck the best you can. What would you do differently if you knew for sure what class you would be in? I am assuming that your debating between MOD, Top, and the new Nostalgia class?
