soo whats the deal with turning your carb sideways?...any changes needed ? like floats or jets?...got my SV1 the other day and the thing is HUGE...I'll have to do some trimming to get it to work sooo thinking about sideways...I'm just saying...

I would ask Patrick James. He would know! Will be interesting to see how that works out for you, Pro Systems has nice stuff. I am suprised that it is larger than a dominator, same base as a Dom?
I would think that carb linkage would be your biggest issue, blower dudes turn them sideways all the time.

Both my Dominators, on the big motor, and the square bores, on the little motor, are mounted sideways and I didn't do anything special to them, for that reason. It's sure a lot easier to change jets with the bowls on the sides.

Only thing i could think of is the action on the floats.
I've seen side mounts on blowers and other manifolds.
But it's best to ask before you cut up your car.

I've been running my 4150/750's sidemounted for years on my tunnel-ram with no mods and they have worked beautifuly (center hung floats). Linkage should be available through Summit, Jegs ect. I'll look it up for you........

That thing won't fit the regular way  ? Must be huge. It doesn't look that big on a SBC. Turning sideways shouldn't cause any problems, at least your jets won't be uncovered, and you won't need Jet Extentions. |

hey thanks for the input guys..I'll call Patrick and see what he has to say ...I'm not sure if it's bigger than a regular Dom...uses the same fuel log so I'm thinking not...I didn't realise how close the motor was to the firewall and rear hood valance till I eyeballed this carb on my old motor for I yanked it...anyway I have the oilpan mocked up and I'm going to try a trial fit this week...then I'll have a better idea of whats going to work...this car could really use a strut front end that would solve lots of fitment issues...maybe in the future...$$$$ thanks again for the input..you guys rock..

Talk to rob, he could set you up with a strut front end for real cheap. the whole chassis engineering front end kit with the frame rail, front legs, struts with breaks and all is around 2300.

Nothing like having a strut car and having the Grand Canyon available for 'ya to mount stuff in! Gotta love 'em........Man.....measuring out my rail for the new bullet.....I kinda miss all that room! lol

One thing about those Weiand linkages.....they adjust to fit just about anything, I love 'em. Oh, BTW, Those aren't the only prices on 2x4 linkages either.....take a look. |
