Today I loaded my car in the trailer and took it to my brothers garage to start working on it. After we had the car in the shop and on stands, we removed the Hood to start un-doing some things. I then noticed some Redish fluid sitting in the Manifold Valley, this is like the second time I've seen it. The first time there wasn't so much there, but this time, there was enough to soak up in a paper towel. My bother looked at it and thought it was Tranny fluid, but there was nothing wet at the back of the motor or on top of the trans. He smelt it and said it smells like tranny fluid a little, I smelt it, and it smells like Taco Sauce to me. Now I know I haven't had Taco's anywhere around my car. The manifold has a deep valley and it seems to hard for trans fluid to jump into it. So I'm puzzled as to what it is. I do have a RED Anodized Base Plate on the Carb, so I'm wondering if the Anodizing is leaking out or something. My bother suggested that the fluid inside my Manifold could be leaking from a Hair Line Crack, I'm not sure what they put in manifolds though or what color it would be. Last year was bad enough, cause the Compound in my Slicks was leaking out on the garage floor. The new Slicks don't do that. Any suggestions on what the Redish Fluid may be. Thanks

Red Fluid? Ruled out manifold juice, not blood from slipped wrench. What color fuel you running? Could it be the dye from the fuel left behind after the leaked fuel has evaporated? I think "Water wetter"is red, maybe that product with the water done evaporated away? You running that stuff?
Could be marvel mystery oil? Thats what I am going to put on Goodie's manifold when he's not looking this year. Right before eliminations I will say "Hey, looks like your leaking something on your manifold, see you in the lanes."
Your going to have to taste it at this point. No other way to define what it is. ;D

your gaskets are red on your prosystems carb right ? its just the gas leaking past them and turning red from the dye in the gaskets

do you run power steering? if you had the car off(not running) and turned the wheel, then power steering fluid would more than likely blow out of the pump and end up on the engine. ask me how i know this. lol! ;D

Taco sauce??!! I TOLD you not to let that family of illegal aliens live under your hood! I'd have to go along with Satellite on this one, probably when you loaded the car.....

Interesting suggestions. That one about the Purple Camaro guy might be something to think about, due to the fact that my new Black Stall Converter turned Purple before I got to see it before him. I'm thinking Scott may have the answer with the Gasket Die deal with fuel leaking by the gasket. Oh and my fuel looks red too, I'm not sure what octain that would be... 110 or 114. Anyway got the trany out, and will put it back in tomorrow with the new Converter. Got the new Braided Fuel Hose's done, need to check for leaks. Next it's rear gear change. After all that, we start on the Purple Camaro. Can't wait to get my hands on that. Have to make sure I have plenty of Black POR 15 around for him.

Sounds like you have a bad vacuum modulator. It recieves vacuum from the intake to help the tranny shift. When it fails, it will push fluid back up the line and to the manifold. That is, if your running a 3 spd chevy,

from what jeff was saying, thats what it sounds like. especially sense his brother said it smelt like "tranny fluid". and knowing jeff, I wouldn't doubt that he lets the car shift by itself, thats why it runs so slow, haha

I found the problem and it's fixed. It was just the Flux Capacitor leaking around the warp core. Cauing a temporal shortage. So it was just the flux from the capacitor on the manifold. We went back in time and found it and fixed it before it started, so now it's all better. Simple.

I don't know why they don't have a sight glass or dip stick on the manifold, so you could check it once in a while.

who still runs a vacuum modulator ? manual shift dont we My t400 in the Chevelle has one. ;D Race that car in "D" and let it shift itself. Very consistant in that regard. Street cars have them, would make a good rule additon to go along with functional wipers for KOS....................
