Looking for options on insuring the race car for fire damage, theft and coverage during transport.
Does anyone have their car insured? If so with who? I have heard of one company that covers these cars. I am a little unsure with them being out of state. They are Grundy Insurance.
Thanks for any input.

Tim, we have Grundy Insurance on Kim's car. They are more of a "collector car" insurance company. Have never had to file a claim but I have never heard of anyone having a problem. They wouldn't insure my car because it has a roll cage in it. I argued with them but it is their policy. I have my car insured through Allstate so I have coverage while driving it on the street, fire, theft and loss. There are a few companies that advertise they insure "Race Cars" but I have never looked into it. Rick

I think that would be covered under your homeowners.

In transit it is covered by the tow vehicles policy. Randy Rollers original cuda was covered by his HO policy back a few years. they had alittle trouble but finaly settled with ins co don't know which one it was.

With the recent "Cedar Hills" subdivision fire the other day i was really wishing mine was covered with something. All my toys other than the race car were in my trailer safe in storage (and insured) but the Camaro was at home on jacks with the heads off the motor. God bless the fire dept, they saved the naborhood!

The quote I got from Grundy was pretty cheap. He said nothing about my car having a cage and no where in the fine print have I found where it says they won't cover a car if it does. Where it won't cover is when I am making a pass. I will call next week and find out for sure about the issues of having a cage in the car.
Thanks for everyone's input.

Unless they have changed their policy it's in the fine print. They also require pictures inside and outside. Good luck. Their premiums are real reasonable in comparison to what I pay Allstate. State Farm wanted a professional appraisal before they would insure my car.
