I've been racing some kind of motorized toy most of my life so racing in general is not new......just going to be in a BBC rear engine dragster this year and since I've never been down ARP track was wondering if some of you regulars would be willing to help with a few questions. First what driver suit type is most popular, 1 piece or 2 and why. Second being new to your track what should I make sure I bring besides the obvious. That's enough for now

Welcome to ARP Quincy....... I'M Dwayne Lile, fire suits most commonly are two piece around here. You will need to have your competition license, drivers license, and what ever you need for your car. But most of us around the pits have extra pieces and parts for those unexpected problems. The track surface is fair a couple bumps around 300 350 foot mark but other than that its good...... We as a whole we are always ready to welcome new people! very family friendly people around here. Also make sure all your saftey (tranny shield, flex plate and shield, seat belts, chassis cert.,helmet, netural saftey, battery hold down) and so fourth are current.... Tech is not to harsh as long as you have the right attitude........ Again Welcome. Anything else just ask.

Well, Welcome to Alaska Drag Racing! It is always nice to get new racers at the track. We have a bunch of good racers with a lot of knowledge out there, so there will be no shortage of advice! The owners of ARP are fantastic and they take good care of the race track. If you would like to talk, call me @ 243-3077
Mike....

First off, Welcome to Alaska! Also you won't see too many posts on here this time of year, but the closer we get to May 15th the more action you"ll see on here. I've been spectating and wandering around this track for 20 years, but I just started running a car last year! To answer your first question, most racers wear 2 piece suits, but it's really personal preference. You don"t need anything out of the ordinary on our track, we run on IHRA rules. I myself am learning how things work from this side of the track. Looking forward to may 15th. Everyone here is knowledable and very willing to help.

Thanks for the replies guys. I've lived here since 1990 and have only watched at ARP so I can't wait to get to go down the track. With luck I will be there May 15. I work offshore in the oil and gas research industry.......

Welcome to the lanes and I agree with all the statements above. Everyone is friendly until the helmets go on but then we're all shaking hands and laghing it up in the pits after the run. Be happy to help whenever I can.
