Got another few things out of the way. I got the fuel system in and have one small leak I need to fix, its just a pipe thread to 8an adapter leaking on my fuel regulator. It started raining out so I didn't get a chance to fix it.
I also got the car wired completely and everything works like it should.
I also got the car running for the first time!! It sounds great with the fenderwell headers and I'm sure glad I had ear plugs in before I fired it. This thing sounds nasty on the alcohol!! Shooting to have the car at the track the fourth July weekend for my shake down runs.
Have a video on you tube but don't know how to link it here. Search 79 Elky sbc.

Tim, I looked at your you tube, just a heads up you may want to change you fuel line location.. it can't be on the firewall. Mark will ding you on that. and the line must be shielded where it passes the flex plate/flywheel. The car looks good by the way. Hope to see it out in two weeks. Dwayne

Thx, when I looked through the rule book I didn't see that. Damnit, now I get to re-route my fuel lines which means more line, modifying the lines I had built and fabing up a mount for my regulator.... Just more time and money, gotta love this racing thing!!
I'll be out on the fourth no matter what!!

So I got the car out for the first time!!
It ran like crap, I had the fuel pressure too low and think that was most of my problem.
It launches straight, goes straight, and is slightly loud with the fender well headers!!
I ran out of time to finish the tonneau cover and door panels. I'm hoping to get those done before the weekend. I also need to cut and buff the paint to get it to really shine.
I don't have any pictures at the moment to post but will try too in the next day or two.

Last one for now. And the couple guys that came and looked at the car that said they saw my build I'm sorry I didn't chat more, I was pretty concentrated on getting the thing to run correct. Come say hi next weekend and I wont be so concentrated on the car. Tim Attachments:

Semiserious and prostreetnova are both running 10's at 3000-3100 pounds on gas, not alcohol. You figure the car is probably 2580 by itself. Even jay goodies 8.30 second nova is 3000 lbs I believe. Don't make the car too light, that's when shit gets sketchy. I like those headers except I felt like I almost burned my stuff wjen I leaned over the fender. Haha.

2750?..Wow!!! I would love for for mine to be that light. Mine is a whopping 3660 with me in it... But it has ran 9.30's and 40's... Can't complain.

Hopefully I'll get the car running right and see some good times Sunday. The headers are definitely loud and take some getting use too. Tim

See Tim, 2500-2600 lbs is light. I look forward to seeing what the car will run. Yeah they are definitely loud.
One thing I noticed that you might want to consider is how far you rolled into the water box. If you roll up too far and do those big burnouts it just tears up your tires. Roll up to were the water box just starts to go up. That way you get a little more water than just what's on the tires and your doing a burnout on wet cement, not layers of rubber. I noticed a pile of smoking rubber a half inch tall after you did your burnout.
Just a thought.
Just a thought,

That is a good observation on the turnout, I'll try that and see if it helps out.

Got the car running better. Wore my 28 inch tall slicks out, found a set of 29.5's and they are too tall. They hook but with my 4.10 gear its not the right combo.
Went 10.95 at 121mph with a shitty 1.61 60 foot.
Anyone have any 28 inch tall slicks they like to loan me for three days of racing?!
