Those that quote actual dollars spent and costs for upgrades, parts, rebuilds, improvements, maintenance, fuel, pit, entrys, booze, ect are going to ruin it for the rest of us. Never speak in terms of actual dollars spent. Instead, speak in general terms like "not too much", "pretty spendy", "chump change". "a few bucks", "lawn mower money". I do not save receipts. I refuse to recognize dollars spent. Example: I just scored new rear gear for my ride, cost a few smackeroons but should be able to blame my inability to go rounds on something else that I have not bought yet. See? No big deal.
Dont scrimp on your dream motor! How many times are you going to have the opertunity to spent an "azz load" (approx 24000 dollars for you numbers guys) in an attempt to go from mid nines to mid eights? Go for it!!!!!

I like the "I refuse to recognize dollars spent". I will use that one on the wife. By the time I do the motor, upgrade the tranny, restall/replace the converter and all the lil things that azz load figure is pretty close. Someone has been there and done that ;D.

If you don't mind what are the specs of your small block? Thanks Tim It is GM 350 4 bolt .040 over with eagle forged stroker crank, eagle h beams (all int balance), JE nitrous series 13.1 pistons, lunati solid roller, lunati pro lifters, scorpion 1.5 rockers, AFR 210 eliminator RR heads, Wilson manifolds cnc ported Vic Sr, and carb by Chuck Nuytten. It was built with the sole purpose to live with up to a 400 shot and it always got no more or no less than a 250. I figured the stock gm block was the weak link to push it any further. It was very consistent for a nitrous car and i did manage to win a few races with it. At this time i am not sure what i am going to do with it, at some point i will tear it down and inspect everything. 9.5 in 3200 lb trim i thought was pretty good for the little guy.

Nice combo, it's nice to see what can be done with a small block.
How much did the spray run you for each weekend of racing?
My engines not up for that kind of spray but would take a 125 shot ok.
Sorry for hijacking your thread.
Tim

That's the problem with nitrous up here, I paid anywhere from 4.00 to 9.00 a lb. Its hard to find any consistent refill stations up here other than ADB (11.00 a lb, ridiculous). I looked in to making my own refill station, but to get the gas you had to have a business license, bottle rental fees, etc, etc, and the initial expense wasn't worth it just for myself (the gas would of only been about 2.55 a lbs threw weld air, and it costs only 3.00 a lbs at the refill shops in the states). On average I was paying 6.00 at one shop and it was 2 lbs per pass, 6 passes at least on race day would be 72.00 worth of spray. My nitrous system is a real sweet Wilson Manifold Pro-Flo set up, 50- 250 adjustable plate system with six or so bottles, heaters, etc. At some point I'm going to get it all gathered up and sell it all off, Naturally aspirated hp or a blower for me from now on.

Actually scott, we ran that motor in that big ass 75 ford with 36" tires and it ran 13.10, and that was without the scat rotating assembly, tunnel ram, new cam, and not to mention the truck weighs 4500-5000 lbs. Drop moms motor in your car with the right GR, tranny ratio, I think I could see 9's, maybe. haha. Even if you wanted one, you couldn't find one to fit in. Neither can I... :/ I agree with candyman. "How much did you pay?" "Enough" Leave it at that. Right now Im at an azzz load with a few piggy banks and some chump change. Right about 30k, And I haven't built the motor, tranny, body work, paint, windows, fluids, gas, trailer.... Everytime I list stuff out it seems to get longer I've still got 10k to go.. atleast. Anybody need their lawn mowed? ;D

Oh, also, If 100 lbs is 1/10th of a second, then can we figure out how much torque we added to our motor by making an 1800 lb car go from 8.80 to 8.50 with just a cam change? Or is there a way to figure this out? we also went from 147.8 mph to 148.99 mph. Anybody help on this one?
