Clint, thanks for restating the point. my wife and i personally did not come down much this last summer to spectate because the first time this summer when we came down at 1:00 am, we were told we could not camp in the spectator side and were escorted to the racers side. How come people cant camp out on the spectator side? And thanks Michelle, I had no idea people do this. It's the after hours thing. And allowing people in after hours, especially after driving long distances is too good. It just screams, "Welcome" So...how do we make sure everybody pays without putting someone on the payroll all night long? Taking their ID is not in my opinion a good way to treat a customer, I realize everybody needs to pay, but lets try to figure something else out. What if there was someone on a scooter patrolling the entire facility looking for window stickers / wrist bands. First thing in the morning of course. If someone were to count the RV's before the ticket booths closed, and then again the next morning, it would be simple to find the violators. I think I've seen people patrolling for wrist-bands already, so why doesn't this work? Are they not looking for Camping passes on RV's? I am assuming that campers have to hang something from the mirror or something stating they paid? I know I have a sticker on my RV but I have a pad, what about the non-pad people? Are Season Camping Passes available? I know season passes are available, but what about camping? Does camping even cost money? It should cost at least a few bucks, $5.00 a day seems pretty fair for a good camp-spot with a fire-pit. I looked all over the web-site for answers to these questions, and failed to find any. Maybe I'm blind, but I couldn't find it. If I had never been to the track, I wouldn't know if I can camp there, how much the tickets are, what services are at the track, (gifts, lounge, and food, RV hook-ups, fire-pits, restrooms,) hours of operation, the address is here, but there should be a map. The website is really geared towards us racers, not spectators. Can we add a section or something "selling" the track for prospective new customers?

The List. Tech-- I don't want the job! Marc does one hell of job! He has to deal with everyone. Protect the Track and the Racers and i feel sorry for him. Enforcing rules is never easy. But i agree maybe he could let some of the none dangerous stuff pass, but if something happens then what? If a new driver needs help with something, let's all pitch in to help him through tech. Let Marc make a list for him of what he needs done and then send him to one of our pits. If we can, maybe we can help. And maybe get another car out there instead of sending them home. Sometimes it's just a puke can for the radiator, or a hold-down on the battery. We all have spare stuff in our pits. And most of these are street cars. Talk about Racer/Fan Friendly. Help, Educate and maybe get another full time racer. Seems worth alittle effort. I just wish everyone would read the rule book, that would make things easier. Rushing events -- I think, I'm not sure, the track has to shut down by a certain time or all hell breaks lose on Earl. This is thanks to the lovely neighbors that have moved in around the track. (a problem the air force could fix) And also to keep the spectators happy. One thing with Top Eliminators, Have those guys pull up closer to the water box, in their race lane. That way the spectators can see them start up and watch the crews and all, then the next pair move up. Instead of starting all the way back in the staging lanes. Just my thoughts. Camping -- This is a tough one, The only thing i can think of, is have security make a note of how many are in the vehicle (adults and Children), License number, type, etc. and have the driver sign in. And then the next morning someone go collect. Or collect a $50 deposit. Like i said this is tough. only other thing is to put someone in the booth all night. And that wouldn't be cheap for the track. I know! Who ever parks closest to the gate has to watch it for the night, that might work. ;D I'm real happy BadLady is watching all this and her input is great. Sure makes everyone think, Running a simple Drag Strip isn't as easy as it looks.

There was a comment made earlier about rides and maybe doing that by lottery or some other means. There are a lot of people that would love that, even if it means a half pass or the likes. Get the individual to sign a waiver and let the rubber burn. I'm sure you all remember this summer when I was able to take a track sponsor for a ride, and I'm telling you she loved it, not to mention it was on the radio the next day for a lot of people to hear. Just saying it's another means to draw spectators. I'm sure not everyone would be able to do this but a few of us would.

I would love to do the passenger ride-along. My car is sat up for it, and I feel my passenger seat is as safe as my drivers seat. The rules stating "only allowed in 14 second or slow cars" is BS... that's like a Honda Civic. It should be like 9.50 or slower, sixteen & over, full cage, SFI 5 point belts, and helmet.

I agree with Jeff 14 seconds is ridiculous. Might as well run the motorhomes then. There are street cars that run faster then 14 seconds right off the lot, so come on. I know of at least 1/2 a dozen Pro-Street cars that are setup for two. with roll bars/cages, belts and all. And most of them are in Mod-ET. So the way i see it, We have a list of 4 or 6 cars/drivers capable and willing to take someone. We have a drawing for some lucky adult spectator and they get to pick which car they'd like to ride in. We could have the drawing after the first round of racing and run it after the second round. This also gives the other guys alittle more time to cool down. I think the spectators would love it, not to mention how the racers would feel. I saw that lady Rick mentioned after her ride with him, and you couldn't have beat the smile off her face. she loved it. It's just something to think about maybe sell tickets for a few bucks at a chance to ride in a Drag Car. They could have their picture taken as well with the car and driver. I'm sure Devin would be happy to handle that.
"ALASKA RACEWAY PARK" presents "WIN A RIDE IN A DRAG CAR" And feel the excitment of Drag racing.
It's just an idea to get the people out there. Anyone got other ideas how to get Spectators to the track? Let's fill The Stands!

My car is always open for rides. I will take anyone any time.. Not the fastest but it will give a good ride. I really like the idea of trying to get the RADIO/TV stations into some kind of contest, they do it out at northstar. (circle track) it does make for some good advertisement.

I would be more than willing to dp the ride along for someone. Maybe they could have a choice between a 10 second quarter mile pass and a 5 second half track pass. If I have someone a ride along i would a full half track pass then ease off a bit and let them pull the parachute handle. Dwayne, how much would you charge me to get a ride?? Seriously, I love that car and that would be the coolest thing, especially if it was on he bottle
