In my last post it would seem that some got it and some did not,but that is not important, What is important is that every one is wondering what this guy will write next. well don't touch that dial. The fact is the sport of drag racing in alaska is fighting an uphill battle for its very survival. One point I am trying to make is that backward thinking, and negative attitudes are making it worse, and sitting in front a computer spewing bullshit will not help. Still don't get it? Well take a little trip with me, it won't be far, and it won't take very long. We are going to the ARP website, yes there you go, now go down over there and click on POINTS. Well now this might look a little strange to some. What you see here are names with numbers behind them, but the further you look down there are more names and less numbers. Still don't get it. Let me explain. The guys on the top of the list with all the numbers are the guys who are working there ass's off to try to keep the door's open at ARP so the guys on the bottom of the list, and the guys that won't even pay 20 bucks to get on the list have a place to go play race car when the mood strikes them. But sadly no more,it would seem there are not enough guys at the top list to carry the rest. What can I do to help you ask. GET OFF OF YOUR ASS. you have six months until the 2012 season starts, get your car ready and be at track on the first day,no not memorial day, THE FIRST DAY AND EVERY EVENT UNTIL THE SEASON IS OVER! I challenge every racer in the state to surpass my attendance record. I haven't missed points day since may 1998. Greg Thornsley. go ahead jeff and scott tell me this is the dumbest thing you ever read

I personally would love to be at the track every weekend that it is open, unfortunately that is prevented by numerous reasons. The cost of each trip alone is at least $1k (mind you this is from Fairbanks), with diesel, food, beer, race fuel, and nitrous all thrown into the mix. That is compounded by the fact that I work a second job on the weekends to be able to afford my drag racing fix, I'm pushing it by taking off the 3 big weekends of the year for racing. So for at least the short term I can only make it down for the 3 big weekends of the year.
I hope that the Friday night gambler races are on the 3 big weekends, would love another day/evening of racing on my trips this coming summer.

I believe you own your own business, so im sure your boss wont get pissed when you tell him u aren't going to work saturday. Most of us have jobs where we have a boss. We also don't make the kind of money you do owning a business. also, unlike 95% of us, you have 2-3 cars to play with. Jeff, Scott and I, if we blow a motor, chances are, we are done for all or a good part of the season. We cant go hop in our other racecar. So before you open your mouth, think about other peoples situations, many of us dont have the money, cars, time or sometimes ability or availability to go every single weekend. Making thr trip from anchorage to the track is enough of a pain in the ass, let alone going from kenai or fairbanks. I guarantee if many of our racers weren't slope workers andc had the money you do, they would be there every day. You cant tell us you dont have money because the 4 race cars and stacker say otherwise.

I think the Gamblers races were on the Tentative schedule for the big weekends.

I'm sorry you don't get it. I'm not going to get into a long discussion about spewing B.S. you win. And congrates on your attendence. Not missing a single race day in all those years doesn't make you a winner and niether do the points. As far as racing every weekend, I want to be there while your explaining your comments to those that work on the slope or live in fairbanks or on the peninsula and to those of us that have Jobs, Families, and Responsiblities. Most of us don't live down the street from the track and for some of us it's very expensive for us to race, but we do it as often as we can afford to. Sorry we don't live up to your expectations. So please add me to your list with Jeff and Scott and others i'd be proud to be on that list.

I would like to attend every weekend and run for points but working on the slope prevents this for me and some others that work up here. This job is how i afford to support my family and my race car, if i worked in town i probably would not make enough money to race at all. I do support the track, pay for my pit spot every year, have family and friends that pay to come out the weekends i am able to race and so on. Oh yhea, some of us slopers even burn up are yearly vacation time just to get in an extra big weekend.

akchallenger, you must be one of those that has a town job that has week-ends off. And I will say that it is the second Dumbest thing I've read.
Do you actually think everyone works in anchorage or the valley and can be there each race. I'd love to be there each week, but I wouldn't give up my $160,000 dollar slope job just for racing, it isn't my life like it is for some. And you won't see my name on a list because I don't race for points, so you all just gona have to carry my ass.

Although I don't agree with everything in this original post one point I do is the need to be positive. I spoke to lots of folks Edmonton who log into our site so in addition to supporting each other with positive posts it is the Internet and others are watching. The other point I'd like to make is there is a new reason to be in the points 'the ET finals'. And although it may be a disadvantage to have a slope schedule for racing each weekend it could be a huge advantage to make a 10 day trip to Canada. Maybe more so than owning your own business which makes it tough to disappear for two weeks. For all of us this is hobby and we come out and play when family, time, and money allow it

Greg ... you are on a roll , this forum has been up for a few years now and you just get on now , and start calling people idiots ... come on , grow up , we all wanna be there the first day to the last day when the season starts , i have been there for more than my share of races in the past 12 or 13 years , and between dad and i we brought 3 other racers out there, and I was more than ready to go last year but others set my 1st day a little late in the season , only to have it break again , but it did not stop me from being ready for labor day weekend.....so say your shit as you will but watch what names you drag into it....

You hit a lot of good points here! Good Post! (I really like the plug for the Canada race! I am so hooked on Edmonton that I am planning on this one for now on!!) Greg: Your making all kinds of friends buddy! ;D I think Greg's point here, even if it came out a little wrong, is that if you can make it out to the track, please come on out. We need you! There are a lot of cars in garages out there, that are either done, or so darn close that it wouldn't take much to finish it. I am sure there are cars out there that are literally collecting dust. Blow the dust off and bring them out! And with the every-other weekend tentative schedule right now, it might be easier for our long haulers to justify the trip easier. I realize this is not a cheap hobby, and its even worse when you have to drive 300 miles to enjoy it. All I can think of to say is, Thank You for making the trip. We appreciate your effort and your commitment! For the sloper's.. This is a tough one! Maybe we could have a points race with-in a points race? I do not know what to do here. There are so many different schedules that is most likely impossible to accommodate everybody. What if we had a points race just for long haulers & sloper's? We would all still race each other, no additional classes or anything, but these people accumulate points separately? For the people who need stuff: If your car needs wiring, I can help. contact me! I love doing wiring and I have all the crap, come on out to my shop and I'll take care of you. If your car needs parts, post something on here. Maybe one of us has what you need, you never know. Gregs intent was to simply "push" some cars out of the garage, nothing more. Take it easy guys. His intents are in the best interest of our hobby, I assure you. Disclaimer: Please dont attack me! I am not a bad guy!!!

I don’t believe in Moderating or Censorship of the majority of our Topics or Posts, I do believe in “The Right to Free Speech”. Having said that, there are rules that I sat and I’m very liberal with them.
A. User's agree to comply in a manner consistent with any and all applicable laws of the State and the US Federal Government.
B. User's posts may not contain content promoting the use of illegal drugs, alcohol, sex, pornography, nudity, or any other form of adult content, profanity, hate, "spam," fraud, racism, pyramid schemes, or promote any illegal activity such as street racing.
You’re right about this being on the Internet for the world to see, but so are all the other sites like this one, Yellow bullet being a big one. I’m not as liberal as they are, they go to war sometimes over there, but if you continue to read the posts, they mostly turn from Bad to Good, Negative to Positive, and so do ours.
I highly respect Greg, he’s a hell of a Drag Racer and always a nice guy. He has a right to say what’s on his mind, and we have the right to pick it to pieces, as it should be. As always, my hope is that any negativity in any form, is left on this site and not carried out to real life. We are drag racers and one big family, you wouldn’t smack around your young brother would you?, well maybe Scott would smack Devin.
The point being is, we learn something about someone from their opinoins & comments. We may not alway agree with them, and then just agree not to agree, thats fine. It should never result in a hatred towards that person or anyone. I've not seen that result so far from any of our posts or comments, that just futher proves we are a family.
