If they will allow it Devin I will take you for a bottle pass. You must have your DIAPER on though. Don't want you to kick a rod have track and make a mess.

I agree with Jeff 14 seconds is ridiculous. Might as well run the motorhomes then. There are street cars that run faster then 14 seconds right off the lot, so come on. I know of at least 1/2 a dozen Pro-Street cars that are setup for two. with roll bars/cages, belts and all. And most of them are in Mod-ET. So the way i see it, We have a list of 4 or 6 cars/drivers capable and willing to take someone. We have a drawing for some lucky adult spectator and they get to pick which car they'd like to ride in. We could have the drawing after the first round of racing and run it after the second round. This also gives the other guys alittle more time to cool down. I think the spectators would love it, not to mention how the racers would feel. I saw that lady Rick mentioned after her ride with him, and you couldn't have beat the smile off her face. she loved it. It's just something to think about maybe sell tickets for a few bucks at a chance to ride in a Drag Car. They could have their picture taken as well with the car and driver. I'm sure Devin would be happy to handle that. "ALASKA RACEWAY PARK" presents "WIN A RIDE IN A DRAG CAR" And feel the excitment of Drag racing. It's just an idea to get the people out there. Anyone got other ideas how to get Spectators to the track? Let's fill The Stands! I think this is a good idea, but I would not do a drawing, I would suggest we sell tickets. A drawing is okay, but if we sold the tickets for say $5.00 a ride, who knows how many people would sign up for it. Customers can pick from a list of cars, and make a pass. $5.00 without photo, $10.00 with photo or something. I would also lower the age limit, 16 years is too old. A lot of parents are going to cave in if their 12 year old is hounding them for a $10.00 photo and ride in car that does wheelies! This would probably work quite well, especially in cars like Dwaynes, Ricks, Mighty-Mike.... All nice cars that are capable of putting it on the rear bumper. Bound to be a success. (Wish I had a passenger seat now) You guys have hit a home run here, I just hope Karen allows it. Still no answer to my questions. I did find some of the answers under "rules and regulations" so I stand somewhat corrected. But it is still muddied up. The Rules state "pit-side parking" for oversized vehicles like RVs. It states nothing about camping, just parking. To someone who has never been to ARP the website could offer more information and attraction. I still think counting RV's right before the gates close and again in the morning is the lesser of all evils to catch the sneak-ins. This does not solve how many people are in the camper, but its a start. A security person would have to approach them in the morning and simply ask, "How many people you got with you?" If people are going to cheat, they could do the same thing at the gate, simply tell the passengers to shut up, and lay low till we get past the guard. So all we are trying to do is keep honest people honest. Hopefully the Lackey family understands we are simply "Thinking Out Loud" And looking for ways to increase spectators, racers and profit. We are not trying to run the track, we are only trying to help.

OK, let me get this straight.... Sell Ride Tickets?
What if we have the largest crowd ARP has ever had, and 500 people buy theses ride tickets for say $10 and there are only 10 car available for Ride-Alongs.
If this is on a race day and I paid $60 dollars to race Mod ET and got in 3 T & T runs before the race starts. I still have 50 people that I have to give rides to that day in between going rounds and winning the Mod ET race.
Hell I'm not sure my car can hold up for all that, and the little money I won, I have to give to racers I borrowed fuel from.

how about talking to the military base about a charter bus, they could use one of their own, to bus out military guys. my dad used to work on base and a lot of those young kids have no car and nothing to do on the weekends. maybe a signup sheet in the barracks for a track day, a couple of times a month with a special rate for the bus ride, entry fee and a hotdog a coke.

We should worry about getting 500 spectators first. But your right, probably a bad idea. Better to do the drawing, or limit the amount of people. If 50 people signed up, it would be a mess for the racers on the list. Hate to say it, but I would be very surprised if the "Ride A Long" idea is going to fly anyway. Between insurance & IHRA it will most likely get scratched. I like the idea of getting some military people out to the track! Perhaps this can be worked out.

I really hope that this ride along thing will go through. I think that that would be a huge hit! I know many many people that would kill to ride in a car for a burnout, let alone a full pass.
I wish we had a committee of racers to vote on shit like this. Somewhat of a senate type thing. 11 racers of all shapes and sizes and ages. Bring up ideas, voted on them, make changes etc.

I hope there is a chance of the Ride Along working. I think it would be good for the Track and great for The Spectators. AND! Devin! A Committee like the Senate? I thought we were trying to help here? Scariest words ever spoken " I'm from the government and i'm here to Help."

I thought we were trying to help here? Scariest words ever spoken " I'm from the government and i'm here to Help." You know what i mean. A group to vote on class changes. Rules. New events. Etc... What we could do is do a raffle or ticket thing. $5 or $10 per raffle ticket. Or $75 or $100 guaranteed one fast pass. The people without a bunch of cash can do the raffle and the people with cash and want a ride no matter what can buy a one fast pass.

So how do we get this started? Tell me about this bus. Can JBER use this bus and bring the troops out to the track? Does it cost money? Would the soldiers be willing and able to buy their admission ticket, if someone else buys their lunch? This is a fantastic idea and one that can materialize. We just need help in getting this coordinated. Are you military? Can you get this sign-up sheet posted in the barracks?

Another idea is to have a drawing from the spectator ticket sales, for one lucky spectator to stand with the starter when Top Eliminator starts. Up Close and loud. Earl could escort them out and back. I've seen this done.

These are all great ideas, keep 'em coming!
I'm heading to mom and dads late tomorrow night for moms birthday and I'm sure we will be talking about these things (always do) and we'll start moving on them.
I really like the military bus idea - anyone have any contacts? We do have a contract with the guard, I'll have Dani see if they know someone.
Clint - I will see about getting some clearer answers on the web about camping, parking, admissions and stuff.
The ride along deal is an insurance thing, but I'll do some checking and see what we can do. I know they do it at other tracks but I'm not sure how they work around it.
