Has anybody actually talked to the track yet? Whether it be Earl, John or the new manager? (forgot her name at the moment) This is all a complete waste of time until "we" do. My two cents on the 10.5w tire: Another ridiculously stupid rule. Your going to allow 10.5 slicks, but not one that is 3/8" of an inch wider? Crazy. Somebody just touched on the fact that every manufacturer's tire measure's slightly different anyway, so what difference does a "w" make? The only difference it makes is the fact that it chases people off. We need two classes guys! This is probably the best way to get as many people / cars as possible. - I feel that the fastest qualifier should get some monetary reward, but the entire field races with H.C. start.
- The purse should be dependent on car counts.
- I feel there needs to be 2 classes. Maybe set an ET limit for the separation? I don't know. If there were 2 classes, we would have more room to make more people happy.
But another waste of my time just posting this! I should be out in the shop working instead of posting my opinions for a dead class that really doesn't even exist anymore. Again, does anybody have Earls Ear? There has been talk of a meeting. Great! I would love to be there if somebody from the track is there. Hell I'll even buy lunch.

frozenws6, Its not the fact that people are afraid to run a 10.5 tire, because most have seen Tim Lynch and Dave Hance run 223 mph on them, its the fact that with most of us, we have narrowed rear ends, and to put a 10.5 tire on there, you would either have to buy anohter set of rims with a outrageous backspace, or you would have a 10 inch rim and have the tire sitting 13-14 inches inside the fender well because of the narrowed rear end. Not to mention, tires, tubes, and rims =$1000 at least. If you wanted to have the car look right, you'd be swapping out whole rear ends. Hate to say it, But 10.5 tire cars aren't a big thing up here like they are in the states. Wish they were though. Seeing Tim Lynch up here running that twin turbo 10.5 mustang was a blast. They don't launch hard at all and then pick up the front tires 300-400 feet down the track. Sometimes carry them all the way down track. Like this video of frank pompillio. 6.90 at 233 with a twin turbo big block ford and the tires touching the track maybe..twice? Im pretty sure he replaces wheelie bar wheels more then he replaces front runners! Valid point. I've just never been big on the whole prostreet look.

That's what I'm trying to make happen. I'm trying to get my presentation together and ducks in a row, list of racers that would want to race in it. Earl's a hard one to sell and this is in the tracks best interest to get a new class or two. A friend and I are working on a more street car type/ radial tire type of class. For late models and cars like yours and Rick's

Sounds like a problem putting those skinny 10.5 tires on my Nova. But if Mike can find tires to run on his Chevelle, I could probaly do it too. Still like to have 13-14" Tread width though. I have a pair of Hoosier Quick Time Pro Drag DOT's (31x18.5-15) (15" of tread width) (mounted on some 15" wide rims, with a 6" B.S. and a 5 on 4-3/4" stud pattern and 11/16" stud holes) the same size wheels that my slicks are on. If anyone wants to fit test them on their car let me know.

Scott, I have those Mickey 10.5 slicks on the 10 inch rim with the chevy bolt pattern that I ran on the ranger for 1/3 of last season. still about 75-80% left on them. Tubes and all. Be a good thing to have if you wanted to put them on just to run KOS.

You guys are just wasting abunch of energy on a class none of you can race in. The rules says "MAXIMUM ET 14.99. Your ALL! alot faster then that, so you can't run KOS. Even if you re-wrote the rules to a "MAXIMUM ET of 12.99, none of you could run in it.
If you want new rules KOS, then they'd have be like. Must be legal street driven. Licensed and insured. Must have all functioning items, IE: All lights, turn signals, wipers, OEM glass, mufflers, radio optional, Must run DOT legal street tires, must be legal to drive on street or highway for more then one city block. If you can't drive it to the store and back, don't bother. Must run 12.99 or Quicker. No Nitro allowed. Just some simple rules everyone can understand. I'm sure these can be tighten up but i believe in "KISS" Keep it simple, stupid.

I think that the tallest you can buy a 10.5 tire is 30.5 or 31. Not sure though. Yeah, oh well. I'd keep them for my truck, but the narrowed rear end would make those tires look like they are a foot inside the fender.

KOS does not need new rules, it needs folks that will compete under the existing. It's a heads up race for the cars that are contenders...........the remainder is a bracket race. Always was, and has had good car count in the past. Remember when the red car was Ray Martin's? All the KOS stickers on his trailer? You want to be competitive, build your car to the limit of the rules, what ever they are! Change the rules all you want, they will suit some, not others and the argument will just be about something else / requirement / not fair issue. Everyone wants a class the "fits" their particular car. Thats human nature I guess. Take the word "Street" out of the name of the event and you will have a lot less attitude about the rules for the event. I just want to cut a good light and run my number, not smart enought to worry about the rest of the BS. ;D that's kind of wishy washy isn't it? didn't you just post that you think the wiper rule needs to go away? weren't you just bagging the ron mobile with the bungee cord comment? what changed? you can't take the word "street" out of it because that is what it is based on.

I know chip has bungee cords holding his windows in. Too bad that satellite isn't caged yet. That's the kind of car that deserves to be in this kind of class.
